A Very Unusual Radio Station |
|
KZQX has the
distinction of being one of the first five Low Power FM
stations to be licensed by the FCC in Texas. We
signed on the air September 18, 2002.
We are licensed to Chalk Hill
Educational Media, Inc, a 501(c)(3) not for profit Texas
Corporation.
There are no
paid employees. Everyone you hear and all the
folks behind the scenes are volunteers. Without
their help, we wouldn't be here.
We are supported by sponsors who
underwrite our programming, as well as by donations from
listeners and friends who think this kind of radio needs
to be on the air.
There is no
particular agenda on the part of the station, other than
to be good neighbors who are active in the community.
We are however, big fans of music and music education.
We think good music is important to the quality of life.
While we recognize that there are
many genres of music, some are undoubtedly more
significant than others. There is life beyond Rap,
Hip-Hop and Three Chord Country. If we help demonstrate
that to people who haven't had the opportunity to sample
this wonderful music and the great performers who
brought it to you, then we've done our job.
We're always happy to hear from
our listeners. Your suggestions and comments are
always welcome.

Are Now Playing on Unforgettable
QX-FM |
Attention AOL Users!
AOL's media player will not decode our web stream if you have their pop up
blocker turned on. We're not sure why. If you find that you get an error
message every time you try to listen to us while logged on to AOL, you can try
turning off the pop up blocker. We do not have pop ups on our web site..
If you don't want to turn it off, never fear, you can still enjoy
America's Original Classics even with an AOL connection. Here's How:
You will first need to download and install either WinAmp, Real Player or
Windows Media Player 9 or 10 (no other Windows Media Player versions will work with our
stream). Below are links to each one. We recommend WinAmp. You
can download the free version, and for our purposes the "Lite" version works
fine. If you have a slow Internet connection, the "Lite" version will not
take all day to download. When WinAmp asks you for your email address, you do not have
to give it to them, unless you want to. You can just leave that
information blank. We like that.

There are two ways to get going...
The simplest way is to disable AOL's default player
after you have downloaded one of the players listed above.
- To do that, launch AOL (if you are looking at
this, you've probably already done that)
- At the top of your screen click on "Settings."
- A box will open. Click on "Preferences."
- A new box will open. Click on "Multi Media."
- In the next box, un-check the Player Preferences box
that says "Use the AOL Media Player for supported file types."
- Click on "Save."
That's it. Go back to our
home page.
Click on the
appropriate link for the player you installed and enjoy America's Original
Classics.
There is another way that doesn't disable
anything:
- 1. Connect to the Internet via AOL, just like you always do.
- 2. Once you have logged on, minimize the AOL screen so you can see your
desktop. Do not log off of AOL.
- 3. Click on your Internet Explorer Icon.
If you don't have that
on your desktop, click on the start button, then click on "Programs."
It should be there. It may even pop up from "Start." We suggest
placing a shortcut to it on your desktop by right clicking on it, clicking
on "send to" and clicking on "Desktop - Create Shortcut." This will make
it easier to find in the future.
- 4. Once you have opened Internet Explorer, enter
www.kzqx.com in the Address Box (at the top of
the page)
- 5. Once you have returned to our web site, click on the link that is appropriate for the type player you
have installed. If you took our advice and used WinAmp or Real player,
that's a picture of the old radio. If you used Windows Media Player 9,
that's the picture of the billboard a little farther down the page.
- 6. In a few seconds, you'll be listening to one of the worlds best
radio stations.
Now, that wasn't so bad, was it?
