Oh the Weather Outside is
Frightful. Still! So, at the February Preservation Club meeting, Feb. 4, we
snuggled in with some warm and toasty and yummy soup to shake off the bitter
chill. With sandwich chasers, this was quite a treat to kick off the year
and our 2010 Membership Drive. Thanks to Tommy Pelton and Karen and Don
Nimmo for their generous soup and stew and to Karla Smith, Jeanne Irwin and
Ray Eustace for the lip-smacking good pimiento cheese and chicken salad
sandwiches.
And speaking of Membership
Drives, did you know that all new and returning members receive a nifty
soft-side cooler with the even cooler Preservation Club logo on the side?
What a deal! For only $20 a year. You can't buy friends that cheap
just anywhere!

Nancy Nunez Belly Dancing
Belly-What?
Well, as I mentioned, the weather outside IS frightful, and it caused our
guest program speaker, Belly Dance instructor Damiana, to have a wreck on
the way to the meeting. So, our own lovely Nancy Nunez, Belly Dance
student, was kind enough to step in and share a few of her moves and her
enthusiasm for the art. Thanks Nancy!

Door Prize winners at
February Meeting
Door prizes were flying like
snowflakes in East Texas. (I don’t get to use that line very often.)
Congratulations to Bart Owens, Angela Dunlap, Mike Reader, Don Nimmo, Pat
Williams, Jeanne Irwin, David Nichols, Tommy Pelton, Jan Pelton, and Ray
Eustace. Thanks to door prize donors the Back Porch Cafe, Duke's Fish
Shack, David Nichols, El Rincon Mexican Restaurant and Burger King.

Chili Cook-Off Contest
Creates Competitive Karma. In other words, the Preservation Club
participated in the Lakeport Kiwanis Chili Cook competition and fundraiser
on February 15. The club sponsored 3 entries in this well-attended event
that helps raise scholarship monies for local students. Thanks to
participating club members Ray Eustace, Jan Pelton, Jeanne Irwin, Pat
Williams, Angela Dunlap and Clayton Evans. What a lot of fun! And
congratulations to the 1st Place Warpath Chili, created by Angela
and Clayton. Whoop!
What’s Next? Well, I’m glad
you asked. The Preservation Club is hosting the second annual Easter
Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3, from 10am til noon at the CWC Office
complex. The Easter Bunny will be on hand again for photos with all the
kiddos. The hunt will have a staged start for various age groups and
refreshments will be served. All shareholders and their families are
invited to attend. Please RSVP to Clayton Evans, 643-0004 or Lynda Whalen,
643-3650, to make sure there are plenty of eggs, or email the club at
lcpresclub@yahoo.com.
Please come and join us.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at the CWC office at
