Yogi Berra said “If you don’t know where you’re going, you might wind up someplace else.”  Don’t you wish you could say stuff like that and not sound stupid?  I wish I was clever enough to say things people would actually remember…things I’d actually want them to remember.  Wouldn’t it be neat to see your own words in quotes, maybe as someone’s recommended words of encouragement or inspiration?  I wish I could pass on tidbits of wisdom that would be worthy of remembering.

When I was a little girl, my mom used to tell me “Susan” stories at night to help me go to sleep. Susan was the name of the little girl in the stories.  It wasn’t until much later ---too much later--- in life that I realized that “Susan” was probably “me” and that the valuable life lessons that Susan was supposed to be learning in these stories, I should have been picking up.  Duh.  I never claimed to be clairvoyant.

So, for instance, if Susan was going to an Easter Egg hunt in the story, she would probably have learned lessons in helping her younger brother find eggs; learned to share her eggs with others who didn’t have as many; learned that helping make the eggs and hide the eggs was every bit as fun as finding them; learned that being nice to the other egg hunters was the right thing to do, even if they were finding more than her; learned to be thankful for the fun of the hunt; learned that finding the eggs wasn’t really the point but that being in the sunshine, with friends and family really was…learned to find joy in the moment.  Boy, that Susan was smart.

Fast-forward 35+ years and it is funny how the really important lessons still apply…some things stay right, forever and always.

So, don’t forget the Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 3 at 10am at the CWC Office.  We hope lots of kiddos and grand-kiddos will come get their picture taken with the giant, adorable Easter Bunny and enjoy the event and find LOTS of eggs.  Call Clayton Evans at 903-643-0004 for more information.

The Lake Cherokee Board of Directors has given the Preservation Club the opportunity to develop and present a plan for a walking/jogging track at the lake that can be used by shareholders.  Please contact Angela Dunlap if you are interested in getting involved in this project.

Come One, Come All…meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at the CWC office at 7:00… Next meeting, April 1.  The program will be by Damiana, Belly Dance instructor…we missed Damiana in February due to weather…let’s all give her a warm LC welcome.  See you then!
