OH HAPPY DAYS

Knife, Fork and Trowel will resume on September 14th. Fredna Stuckey and Delores Toon have graciously volunteered to be next season's chair persons. We know they will be great at this. Now, KFT needs 4 volunteers to be callers.

A very special thank you goes out to this year's callers. Jackie Bolin, Polly Dunlap, Betty Heim and Ada Pool did a wonderful job.

Hosts and hostesses Susan Deeds, Pete and Carol Staiti, and Dottie and Ed Holley

May 11th was Red, White and Blue night. 48 people attended on a somewhat windy, but pretty spring evening. Hosting were Pete and Carol Staiti, Ed and Dottie Holley, and Susan Deeds.. The tables were decorated with miniature American flags and napkins. Dinner was Pete's famous pork tenderloin, scalloped potatoes and green beans. Thank you to everyone for all the delicious side dishes.

Guest Speaker Tom Brown

Guest speaker for the evening was Rusk County Attorney Tom Brown. Mr. Brown spoke about the five documents everyone should have, but most don't. The first of these documents is a Valid Will. Did you know that if you write on your will once it's been validated, it becomes invalid? So, if you want to write something extra, use sticky notes. The second document is a Durable Power of Attorney. This written legal document lets you designate another person to act on your behalf, even if you become disabled or incapacitated. The third document is the Medical Directive to Physicians. This allows you, if you so choose, to instruct your physician not to use artificial methods to extend the natural process of dying. The fourth document is a Medical Power of Attorney. This one lets you to appoint someone else to make decisions about your medical care, even if you are unable to communicate. The fifth document is a HIPAA Release. HIPAA was passed to protect individual patient's medical records from being disclosed. Doctors and healthcare providers have to get written authorization from a patient before they can share information - even if it's a caregiver or close relative. Be sure to inform your physician if you have a HIPA release on file.

Door prize winners Gretchen Rogers, James Nowak and Carol Ross

Door prizes were given out at the end of the evening. Lucky winners were Gretchen Rogers, Carol Ross and James Nowak. Congratulations on winning some really cute Americana ornaments.

Have a wonderful summer and we'll see everyone in September. Hosting will be Bonnie and Charley Haynes, Sonny and Maggy Hamlin, Gretchen and Joe Rogers and Philip Owens. Make plans to join us, and invite your friends and neighbors. It's always a wonderful dinner and lots of fun.
