The first scramble of the
2010 year came off without a hitch. The sunny day was sandwiched in between
rainy ones but it didn’t hurt the golf. It even was semi warm about noon or
so. Forty-four players showed up at 9:30 am ready to go.

First Place team "The Over the Hill Gang" L to
R Jimmy Lee, Phil Wright, Alvin McCarty and Dave Clark
The winning team was a
familiar one. The “Over The Hill Gang” did themselves proud. Alvin
McCarty, Dave Clark, Jimmy Lee, and Phil Wright came into the clubhouse with
11 under par to win first place, which netted them each $40.00 in prize
money.

Second Place team L to
R Joss Kelly, Jacob Winters, Matt Winters, and Clay Thomas
Second place team was the
youngest team on the course. Jacob Winters, Matt Winters, Clay Thomas and
Joss Kelly had a tie with the team of Shay Maloch, Shay Ray Malcoh, Kurt
Rupp, and Johnny Jackson. Both teams finished with 10 under par but the
winning team was decided by a scorecard tie breaker and the Winters brothers
with Thomas and Kelly won out and received $30.00 per player in prize money.
The closest to the hole on
the second round on hole #1 went to Mike Clark who received a mixed prize
packet. Closest to the hole on #5 went to Shay Maloch who also won a mixed
prize packet.
After the game the players
enjoyed a pot luck lunch held in the clubhouse.
The "Spring String
Scramble" will be held after the deadline for getting articles in for the
Chatter. You will have to wait until the next one to find out who wins.
The Cherokee Country Ladies
Association elected new officers for the coming year. Marje Thieman was
elected President. Vice President will be Sarah Harris and Sec./Tres. Ann
Lucy. Also elected for the office of LAWGA representative was Carol Oliver
and Tucy Everett as "Birdy" Chairperson. The ladies meet every Tuesday at
noon and all ladies that like to play golf are invited to come join them.

Mr. Bill Adler new CCGA
Board Member
Mr. Larry Colvin turned in
his resignation as board member at the last CCGA Board Meeting. Mr. Bill
Adler will be taking over that position on the board. The yearly annual
meeting was well attended by members of the club. The club members had
several good ideas to present to the Board.
The yearly Club Championship
that was cancelled last fall because of really rotten weather will be held
on May 15th. With any luck at all the weather will be wonderful
by that time. There will be three categories, Men, Seniors, and Women.
Only members are eligible to play in this event. As usual there will be a
meal after play. Plan to keep this weekend open!
