The following shareholders have just won a free round of golf:

NP-114     NG-35    SG-36     NP-47     SL-23

The first scramble of the 2010 year came off without a hitch.  The sunny day was sandwiched in between rainy ones but it didn’t hurt the golf.  It even was semi warm about noon or so.  Forty-four players showed up at 9:30 am ready to go.

First Place team "The Over the Hill Gang"   L to R Jimmy Lee, Phil Wright, Alvin McCarty and Dave Clark

The winning team was a familiar one.  The “Over The Hill Gang” did themselves proud.  Alvin McCarty, Dave Clark, Jimmy Lee, and Phil Wright came into the clubhouse with 11 under par to win first place, which netted them each $40.00 in prize money.

Second Place team  L to R  Joss Kelly, Jacob Winters, Matt Winters, and Clay Thomas

Second place team was the youngest team on the course.  Jacob Winters, Matt Winters, Clay Thomas and Joss Kelly had a tie with the team of Shay Maloch, Shay Ray Malcoh, Kurt Rupp, and Johnny Jackson.  Both teams finished with 10 under par but the winning team was decided by a scorecard tie breaker and the Winters brothers with Thomas and Kelly won out and received $30.00 per player in prize money.

The closest to the hole on the second round on hole #1 went to Mike Clark who received a mixed prize packet.  Closest to the hole on #5 went to Shay Maloch who also won a mixed prize packet.

After the game the players enjoyed a pot luck lunch held in the clubhouse.

The "Spring String Scramble" will be held after the deadline for getting articles in for the Chatter.  You will have to wait until the next one to find out who wins.

The Cherokee Country Ladies Association  elected new officers for the coming year.  Marje Thieman was elected President.  Vice President will be Sarah Harris and Sec./Tres. Ann Lucy.  Also elected for the office of LAWGA representative was Carol Oliver and Tucy Everett as "Birdy" Chairperson.  The ladies meet every Tuesday at noon and all ladies that like to play golf are invited to come join them.

Mr. Bill Adler new CCGA Board Member

Mr. Larry Colvin turned in his resignation as board member at the last CCGA Board Meeting.  Mr. Bill Adler will be taking over that position on the board.  The yearly annual meeting was well attended by members of the club.  The club members had several good ideas to present to the Board.

The yearly Club Championship that was cancelled last fall because of really rotten weather will be held on May 15th.  With any luck at all the weather will be wonderful by that time.  There will be three categories, Men, Seniors, and Women.  Only members are eligible to play in this event.  As usual there will be a meal after play.  Plan to keep this weekend open!

Balls for the driving range are available in the Pro Shop.  For GOLF INSTRUCTION, call the Pro Shop (903-643-3571) for information and/or appointments.
